Poppy - Adopted
Here’s Poppy:
Poppy went into foster in Hampshire on the 9th February 2026.
Poppy is a gorgeous small/medium sized girl with a lot of love to give to her humans. You will never be short of company, kisses or cuddles with her around. She is clean in the house, quiet at night and can be left for 2 to 3 hours without issue. Poppy loves her walks and would be perfect for an active household. She walks beautifully on the lead and would enjoy being someone’s running companion or just having lots of opportunities to mooch around outside and have a good sniff. Poppy is a clever girl and is learning lots of commands. She loves food treats and is very trainable. She will need to continue her training in her forever home and might enjoy agility or other active training opportunities. Poppy takes longer to warm up to men than to women and can be wary of them, however, she learned to trust everyone in her foster family in only a few days. Poppy would do best as an only dog in an adult only home or with older, dog savvy teenagers as she is unsure of younger children. She might be ok with dog savvy cats. She ignores the cat in her foster home but it is possible she might chase a cat if she saw them run. She is walking nicely on her lead and ignores other dogs on the walk.
All in all she’s a wonderful girl who, despite having some horrible experiences, trusts people and just wants to be loved. She will be forever grateful and give her affection and loyalty wholeheartedly to her forever humans. Poppy is 5 years old and weighs approximately 20 kg..
Her Story
Poppy was found abandoned in a remote village. Children after school would find her hiding in the bushes, and would throw things at her for fun. She never moved - just accepted her lot. The lady who found her kept her with lots of other dogs in a disused yard. When we visited her, she did everything she could not to be put back in the yard. We promised her we would come back for her.
