A Big Heart Looking for the Right Home
Romulus is located in Denbighshire.
Romulus (Rom) is a 5-year-old Carolina Dog who came to the UK from Romania in 2020. Much loved in his current rural home, he now needs a quieter environment that better suits his nature.
Rom is a bright, affectionate boy who enjoys fuss, interaction, and plenty of exercise. He walks well on lead and loves off-lead runs in secure fields. His recall is good, but due to reactivity to other dogs he cannot be off lead where he might encounter unknown dogs. After being attacked by off-lead dogs, his reactivity increased, and public walks have become more challenging. Despite this, he thrives in secure spaces where he can chase toys and run through the long grass.
Rom is fully house-trained, neutered, and microchipped. He knows his basics (sit, stay, down) but responds best with routine and consistency. He currently lives with another dog he has known since puppyhood and enjoys play, though he can be boisterous and sometimes misses cues. We believe he’ll do best as the only pet in most homes (he is not cat-friendly).
Rom can be anxious around both unfamiliar animals and people he doesn’t know. Living on a busy farm has been stressful for him, with frequent visitors, vehicles, and deliveries, so he needs a calmer, quieter home where he can feel secure.
He is fine around children he knows but, due to his energy and need for focused attention, he will be best suited to an adult-only home. He would fit well with an active person or couple with access to secure outdoor space. In the right home, he will reward you with loyalty, intelligence, and endless affection.
This boy has got a heart of gold, and in a quiet environment he can finally start to relax — but he needs someone with dog experience and definitely a calm, settled home.
