Meet Kira
Kira went into foster in Hertfordshire on the 15th June 2026.
Kira arrived with the world feeling a little big and scary — but fast forward to today, and she’s blossomed into the gentlest, most affectionate girl you could hope to meet.
She’s a bit of a shy sweetheart when new visitors show up, sometimes giving a little bark and keeping her distance at first — but give her a few minutes and she’ll warm right up. Not an aggressive bone in her body.
A social butterfly at heart, Kira adores other dogs — her best friend is a German Shepherd, and the two of them play beautifully together (she’s even enjoyed sleepovers at her bestie’s house!). She’s equally wonderful with children, a little cautious to start but quick to learn who her people are and trust them completely.
Give Kira a garden and she’s in heaven — chasing toys, having zoomies, and somehow managing to respect every plant and flower in her path (we’re still impressed by this). She’s reliably toilet trained and always lets you know when nature calls.
On the lead, she’s a dream in fields and woods, and relaxes nicely off-lead in enclosed spaces — she usually comes when called, though when she’s feeling anxious, not even treats can compete for her attention. Busy streets, traffic, and crowds are trickier for her; she’d much rather stick to peaceful, green spaces than dodge buses and shopfronts.
At home, Kira’s an absolute gem: sound sleeper overnight, an enthusiastic morning greeter, unbothered by the vacuum or washing machine, and totally settled being left alone for up to four hours. Not destructive at all — except for one memorable occasion when she shredded a newspaper. Clearly, she just wanted to catch up on current events. 📰
She eats with real enthusiasm (and always has half an eye out for extra snacks!).
Kira has grown so much since she arrived, and what shines through now is a dog who is endlessly gentle, endlessly loving, and always ready to give back every bit of affection you give her — and then some.

Her Story
Kira had an owner but he didn’t have time for her. She was passed to another family member but they tired of her. One of our volunteers discovered she was going to be taken to the kill shelter so she was rescued.

Tested for known parasite conditions. Also for Leishmaniasis. Pursuant to government regulations all dogs have their blood tested here in the UK for Brucellosis prior to entry and enter the UK within 30 days of the blood being drawn. All dogs are microchipped.
