Meet Picolo
This is Picolo:
Picolo went into foster in Hertfordshire on 9th March 2026.
Picolo has settled well in his new surroundings, his favourite thing to do is snooze on a blanket. He enjoys toys, cuddles, belly rubs and generally having people around to hang out with. He is timid with new people but also trusting with those he feels familiar with.
He is eating well and getting braver in the house and garden each day, slowly exploring unfamiliar rooms with caution. He is crate training and doing really well with toileting.
He is now doing well walking on the lead and is becoming more and more trustworthy on a dropped long line, with his recall steadily improving. He is good with other dogs, though he can be a little jumpy and may need some guidance to remember his manners. He has also been good with children.
He is still a puppy, so he does chew as expected at this age and this will need to be monitored and redirected appropriately. He does enjoy his toys and responds well to being guided back to them.
He finds being alone difficult and needs patience. He can now be left happily for around an hour and remains calm, though he may become restless if left longer. He feels safe in his open crate or on a blanket and will settle down soon enough.
He has met the dog next door that he shares a fence with and seems keen on becoming friends, though he has not yet interacted with local cats.
He is eager to please, gentle, submissive and a total sweetheart.
His Story
Picolo and his siblings were found by the side of a countryside road with no mother in sight. They were only 6 weeks old, and desperately in need of care.
